Post base on a plywood deck. Figure 1 12 shows the bending moment versus rotation relationship for perma. The drawing at the bottom requires a new steel reinforced concrete foundation. Log hog screws are used to hold the post to the solid blocking below.

The blue box shows the post to block connection. In this connection the bottom of the post has a 3 4 stub tenon that is routed into a plywood sub floor. I then use through bolts that pass through the beam and this post extension to complete the connection. A galvanized steel plate or pvc spacer is used to separate the concrete and the wood.

Models are available for attaching to existing hardened concrete wet concrete as well as wood. Post and column bases secure the bottom of posts or columns to concrete and are perfect for decks or patio covers. Post bases have an elevated bottom compartment with an opening that is designed to lock into a concrete anchor which is embedded in the top of the concrete pier. To concrete connection do not behave like the wood post or the concrete pier they connect.

Post base timber pier rod plate. The top of the post base straddles the wood support post and provides nail holes which should be filled to add strength to the connection. The bcs allows for the post to beam connection of 2 2xs to a 4x post or 3 2xs to a 6x post. I never use lag bolts.
